Cecilia Yauger, M.Ed.

President


Cecelia Yauger, Dean of Academic & Strategic Planning, oversees curriculum instruction, assessment, licensing and development. Mrs. Yauger oversees all ASG academic programs, keeps track of students’ academic progress and coordinates our student advising program. She also collaborates with international and domestic school partners to ensure academic programs are implemented effectively.

Mrs. Yauger has over of 35 years of experience in American education. She taught elementary education, special education and has served as a special education supervisor, director, and the head administrator for a variety of school districts in western Pennsylvania. She has also provided consultation services in special education, curriculum development, educational leadership and strategic planning.

Mrs. Yauger graduated from Slippery Rock University in 1979 with a Bachelors of Science in Education, majoring in Elementary Education & Special Education. In 1985, she received a Masters in Education from Slippery Rock and completed the Letter of Eligibility Program at Westminster College in 1999. She has also held professional affiliations with the Association of Educational Service Agencies (AESA), American Association of School Administrators (AASA), and the Association of Supervision and Curriculum Development (ASCD).
Now anyone can obtain an American high school curriculum through the American Baccalaureate program.

David Stump, Ph.D.

Program Director


Dr. David Stump is an Academic Manager who facilitates the development of educational projects for American Baccalaureate programs. He also assists with advising and tutoring ASG students. Dr. Stump earned his Bachelor¹s degree in Sociology & Anthropology from West Virginia University and his Ph.D. in Anthropology from the University of Pittsburgh. He has taught anthropology and anatomy-related subjects at a number of colleges and universities, including course development for traditional and online instruction.
Cultivating creativity and adopting a global perspective are keys to success in the 21st century.

Robert Stanger, M.Ed.

Superintendant


Robert Stanger is the Dean of Admissions at American Scholar Group. He oversees international student admissions, the certification of international licensees and the accreditation of ASG branch offices world-wide. Mr. Stanger has 14 years of hands-on, classroom experience working with at-risk children at Keystone Charter School. He is also an experienced ESL instructor, having taught students from a variety of linguistic backgrounds that include Arabic, Russian and Chinese at The Mercer County Literacy Council. Mr. Stanger’s teaching experience includes two years at the university level teaching German to freshman students and over 500 hours of specialized state-sponsored training in intervention and instructional strategies.

Mr. Stanger earned his Bachelor of Arts in English and German from Westminster College and a Master of Education with a specialization in English language learners. He is currently working on a Masters in Child Development at Ashford University and his Doctorate degree in Education at North Central University.

Jeffrey Baylor

Provost


Jeffrey Baylor has more than 20 years of experience in higher education reaching across both the private and public sectors. He has served at the executive level for institutions in three different accrediting regions, representing a Lutheran, catholic, Mennonite and a non-sectarian private institution as well as a public flagship University. His experience includes institutions that embraced and capitalized on developing new delivery systems for degree completion, certificate and professional programs. Most recently Baylor served as the Vice President for Marketing, Enrollment and Student Services at The University of South Dakota. His other experiences included Vice President at Bethel College in KS, Assistant Vice President at Saint Leo University in FL and Dean of Enrollment at Thiel College in PA.

Mr. Baylor graduated from Marietta College in 1993 with a Bachelor of Arts in Management. In 1996, he received a Masters of Arts in Education and later in 2002 he Earned his Masters of Business Administration from Tiffin University.

Thomas Horrell

Academic Director


Thomas has been an educator in both the USA as well as overseas. He has been a student, educator and administrator in Latin America and The Middle East. Thomas has also be involved with the growth of educational technology within Latin America. He brings this experience to continue to develop the growth and progress of both the American Baccalaureate and ASG overall.

Thomas earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Ohio University. He also holds a Bachelor of Science in Education from Youngstown State and a Master of Science in Educational Administration from the University of Scranton.
He has been a student, educator and administrator in Latin America and The Middle East.

Dr. Scott Sankey Ph.D.

STEM Instructor


Dr. Scott Sankey is a STEM instructor focusing on mathematics and statistics, helping to tutor international high school students with courses from Algebra to Calculus. He has taught and used his skills in Biostatistics at the University of Pittsburgh, where he earned his doctorate. His work at the University of Pittsburgh and at the Henry Ford Medical Hospital focused on clinical pharmaceuticals trials. In addition to his academic work, he has a history of performing in community theater.

Dr. Richard Friesen Ph.D.

Academic Manager


Dr. Richard Friesen is an Academic Manager who consults on American Baccalaureate projects, has served as an Academic Advisor, and works with international high school students as a STEM instructor. He has 15 years of teaching experience in the University of California system, at the University of Southern California, and other schools. He has also done fieldwork in Africa, preparing populations for major infrastructure projects and mentoring scientists in Environmental Biophysics. He holds a Ph.D. in Community Evolutionary Biology from the University of Southern California.

David Lucas

Academic Manager


David Lucas manages and coordinates academics for the Ohio branch as well as helps to develop the ESL curriculum for American English Institute (AEI). David holds a Master’s in English with certifications in TESOL and Teaching of Writing from Youngstown State University. David has years of experience as an ESL and writing instructor at the university level.
